In high performance systems for unsorted cutting, the lumber is produced with chipper canters, circular saw units combined with centering and guide units to achieve a high cutting accuracy. There is no pre-sorting of the logs. The systems can be fed directly online. The logs are measured with 3-D or x-y scanning technology to determine the characteristic data of the logs entering the system, such as small, median and large end diameter, taper and curvature. |

The cutting optimization system uses stored lumber dimension data to determine the highest value cutting solution for maximum yield, taking into account main product and side lumber. Complete cutting patterns which are stored in the system can also be referred to in this process. High throughput achieved with these systems, with fast servo adjustment of the tool axes and variable, cutting pattern-related feed speed optimization. Feed speeds of up to 100 m/min. |
