Although there is a structural change in the sawmill industry resulting from the small difference between high round log prices and the proceeds from the sawn lumber products, many sawmills are in a position to work profitably due to appropriate investments in their mills.
The endeavor to process round logs at reasonable costs necessarily leads to new technical solutions. Modern production machines with a high availability and optimum working processes in small, medium and large sawmills will result in an increased productivity and therefore also in reduced processing costs.
